BeamViz Magic
This object uses the focus location and channel data from your BeamViz objects to generate magic sheet objects for each system.
Switch to a sheet layer.
If you like, use viewports to create a cropped, miniature version of the set. Make sure the 0,0 point of your drawing is snappable in the viewport.
Select the
tool.Click in the drawing at the 0,0 point of your magic sheet.
Use Object Info to pick a layer — all channeled beams will appear as numbers in the Magic object.
Set the scale in Obj Info (e.g. 1/8″=1′-0″ would be 96). If placing over a viewport, match its scale.
Set the font for the channel numbers via the
menu.Set additional parameters in Object Info, described below.
The Move by Points tool can be useful for duplicating your Magic object / viewport combination.

Select a layer containing BeamViz objects
- Scale
The 1 : x ration for the scale. You can find this number in the corresponding viewport
- Align channel to
Select between Focus or Source
- Channel Offset
This value adds to all channels.
For example, if your cool system is a duplicate of your warm, 20 channels higher, set this to 20.
- Append
Appends text to the channel number
- Prepend
Prepends text to the channel number
- Reverse and Repeat
Mirrors channel locations across the centerline.
For example, if you have BeamViz objets representing a diagonal wash from one side, and you mirrored Lighting Devices to the other side without worksheeting.
- Maintain NR C FR
When channels are Reverse and Repeated, this option changes the numbering direction so that the nears, centers, and fars are consistent.
- Merge Repeating Channels
If more than one channel covers an area, this places a single channel at the midpoint.
- Draw Arrow
Draws an arrow to or from the channel. Use the Attributes palette to set the arrow type and size.

To Channel – The arrow points towards the channel, on the side oposite of the focus.
